{"id":44,"date":"2009-09-28T23:30:54","date_gmt":"2009-09-29T03:30:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dan.verweire.com\/?p=44"},"modified":"2009-09-28T23:31:59","modified_gmt":"2009-09-29T03:31:59","slug":"kde-firefox-integration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/dan.verweire.com\/?p=44","title":{"rendered":"KDE &#8211; Firefox integration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/forum.kde.org\/viewtopic.php?f=14&#038;t=17786\">http:\/\/forum.kde.org<\/a>, here are some easy steps to make FireFox integrate better with KDE:<\/p>\n<p>1. install your distro&#8217;s gtk-qt-engine<br \/>\nnote: depending on how far your distro is with kde4 integration this package may either be called gtk-qt-engine or gtk-qt-engine-kde4<\/p>\n<p>2. change your Firefox theme<br \/>\nIf you use the default KDE oxygen theme install the oxygen theme for Firefox from here: https:\/\/addons.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/addon\/7962<\/p>\n<p>3. change the appearance of the file selector:<br \/>\ntype &#8220;about:config&#8221; into Firefox&#8217;s URL bar and type &#8220;platform&#8221; into the display filter below. Make sure that the value for<\/p>\n<pre>\r\n    ui.allow_platform_file_picker\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>is set to false<\/p>\n<p>4. Additionally, to fix buttons and checkboxes, install package gtk2-engines-qtcurve. Now open KMenu->System Settings->Appearance->GTK Styles and Fonts and set &#8220;Use another style&#8221; (under category GTK Styles) to QtCurve. Save it and restart Firefox (copied this straight from post #5 \ud83d\ude09 &#8211; many thanks!)<\/p>\n<p>5. For downloads &#8211; you may want to consider installing the flashgot add-on.
